Lutheran High Hosts Summer Camps!
Students have been busy this summer as many have participated in summer camps and clubs hosted by Lutheran High School of Sioux Falls and Sioux Falls Lutheran. Marching Band Camp was held at Memorial Lutheran Church from June 6th-9th thanks to leadership from Ms. Tasondra Huyck, music director at LHSSF, and Mrs. Karen Dooley, music director at SFLS. Students learned about marching techniques, rehearsed music, and prepared for the upcoming band season with the hopes of marching in parades this fall!
The 2nd annual drama camp, Camp Center Stage, took place at Memorial Lutheran Church from June 12th-23rd. The camp was led by Mr. Austin Albers and Mrs. Heidi Albers, theatre directors at Lutheran High. During the two-week camp, participating campers prepared for their public performance of “Café Murder,” a murder mystery dessert theater, held Friday, June 23rd in the Garage at Memorial.
The camp also helped educate students about aspects of theatre, such as improvisation, applying theatre make-up, and taking a tour of the theatrical spaces at the Jeschke Fine Arts Center at USF. Ms. Leanne Holdorf, LHSSF and SFLS math teacher, led the Summer Math Club with members meeting Fridays throughout the summer at Sioux Falls Lutheran. Students participated in a variety of activities, such as creating kites, building catapults, participating in a water balloon launch, egg drop competition, and many more! Thank you to those students who participated and made these summer events so successful!
