First Year for Marching Eagles Awarded with Success
Each year we strive to accomplish larger goals in order to showcase our small but mighty school! Ms. Tasondra Huyck, Lutheran High’s music director, along with Mrs. Karen Dooley, music director at Sioux Falls Lutheran School, held a marching band camp this past summer to help form our marching band for the 2017-2018 school year.
This fall, the Lutheran High School of Sioux Falls band teamed up with the band students of Sioux Falls Lutheran School to form the Marching Eagles of Sioux Falls. The Marching Eagles performed at two marching band competitions, showcasing their talents and receiving wonderful results because of their hard work! At the Missouri Valley Marching Festival the Marching Eagles swept 1st place in the “B” Division of the competition. The Eagles received “Outstanding” Color Guard and “Outstanding” Drumline Awards.
Lutheran High senior Marissa Dooley was awarded “Outstanding” Drum Major. The marching band celebrated their season by performing at the Lutheran High Celebrate Dinner on September 30th as well as performing for the students and staff at Sioux Falls Lutheran School. Many thanks goes to our music directors, Ms. Huyck and Mrs. Dooley, for continuing to grow our music departments, and to God be the Glory for all He has blessed us with at Lutheran High!
