LUTHERAN HIGH ONE-ACT RESULTS

Lutheran High School of Sioux Falls received 1st place at the Class B-Region 1 One-Act Contest held in Brandon on Wednesday, January 29th! Elizabeth Ascher, Hope Dunkle, Riley Neff, Ainsley Swanstrom, and Colin Thuringer received superior acting awards! Lutheran High qualified to compete in the SDHSAA State One-Act Festival February 6th-8th in Sioux Falls at O’Gorman High School. “Commercials” performed at the state contest on Friday, February 7th. The “Fume Products” were recognized for “Superior Ensemble Acting.” Included in this ensemble were Reilly Nelson, Maddy Peters, and Emma Taylor. “Superior Individual Acting” awards were given to Hope Dunkle, Colin Thuringer, Gabi Micheel, and Arryanna Rosburg. Congrats to the cast and crew for a wonderful performance at the state contest and for an outstanding one-act season! We praise God every day for the talents God has gifted our students at Lutheran High. Thank you also to Mr. and Mrs. Albers for their leadership, passion, and guidance in directing Lutheran High Theatre! 

SCHOLASTIC WRITING AWARDS

Lutheran High juniors Aubrey Baumann and Hope Dunkle received Scholastic Writing Awards for their writing! Congrats to Aubrey for receiving the Silver Key award for her short story, “How The Tree Found Her Roots.” Congrats to Hope for receiving the Gold Key award for her short story, “Happily Ever After (or Not),” the Silver Key award for her poetry, “My Curse,” and the Silver Key award for her flash fiction piece, “I Have Two Mirrors in My Bedroom.” Amazing work, ladies!

MARCHING EAGLES

Congrats to the Marching Eagles on their successful marching band season! The Marching Eagles had an excellent debut of their 2019 parade show "NFL Countdown" at the Parker Pheasant Marching Festival. They ended up in 3rd place in the Music Execution category, 3rd place in the Visual General Effect category, and in 5th place overall! The wind section scored in 3rd place while the color guard received 2nd place! Also, at "March to the Meridian" in Yankton on October 12th, the Marching Eagles received 1st place in their division. Glory to God!
