WHAT WE BELIEVE

We believe that the God who created the entire universe reveals His true nature in His Word, the Holy Bible. There, God describes Himself as Three Persons, but One God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Because sin and death entered the world through the sin of Adam and Eve, and because God loves us, He sent Jesus Christ to be our Savior. His sacrificial death brought us the forgiveness of sins and saved us from eternal death. Jesus’ resurrection from the dead with a new and glorious body is proof that our sins are forgiven, that we too will rise from the dead, and that God’s Word is true.

 The fact that Jesus died in our place and rose again from the dead is called the "Gospel," or "Good News." When this Gospel is told, the Holy Spirit creates faith. The Holy Spirit is able to bring faith also when the Gospel comes through the Sacraments of Holy Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.

This spiritual foundation of Lutheran High School of Sioux Falls does not preclude a high appreciation of the gifts of reason and intellect. We believe that God has given these gifts to us to explore His world and to make us thoughtful and dedicated citizens in society.

In exploring the various subject areas in the curriculum from a Lutheran Christian perspective, our students are uniquely World Ready, Faith Secure! They know their true value lies not in GPAs and accomplishments in extracurricular activities, but in God’s loving assessment of them as His children for whom He has a plan in this world.
